For entertainment purposes, Handel was the only one of those regularly writing grand commissions for royalty and big ceremonial occasions. I love Bach, but contextually his work is heavily skewed toward regular church activity. And Vivaldi's output reflected his day job at a school, ensuring young players developed good technique. Anyone for Mozart, Bach, Handel, Vivaldi? Is a CD compilation re-issue of music by the Swingle Singers. It combines tracks from two previous LP releases, Going Baroque (tracks 6 – 16) and Swinging Mozart (aka Anyone for Mozart?) (tracks 1 – 5). Track listing 'Piano Sonata No. 15 in C major' ('Sonata semplice') K. Vivaldi: Concerto for Violin in D Major, RV 230 Vivaldi: Cantata “Cessate, omai cessate”, RV 684 Vivaldi: Concerto for Violin and Organ in D Minor, RV 541. Aisslinn Nosky, director and violin Ian Watson, organ Reginald Mobley, countertenor H+H Orchestra. Handel, Bach were blinded by '18th century quackery' The beautiful strains of George Frideric Handel's 'Messiah' and Johann Sebastian Bach's 'Christmas Oratorio' evoke a very different picture from the dark bond the two composers shared: Each was blinded by botched eye.
